5 Tips for Choosing the Right Linen Sofa

Which colour linen sofa should you choose?

Sunlight fades all fabrics, so a lighter tone linen such as white or natural works best in a room that gets a lot of natural light as these colours are less prone to fading. A darker colour linen sofa such as blue or dark grey especially suits spaces that are used in the evening such as TV rooms or cosy living rooms where you want to curl up in winter next to a crackling fire. Are white linen sofas practical?

Choose a Performance Linen for your sofa to give it some protection from liquid spills and consider a sofa with removable slip covers that can be washed. Get in touch with us via Live Chat if you'd like to check if the covers are removable on the sofa you are interested in. Bear in mind that any white fabric will yellow slightly over time in the same way as white paint, this is a natural occurrence in bleached fabrics. Are some linens softer than others?

Our linens have different weights and softness. A thinner more open-weave fabric will generally feel softer than a thicker densely woven fabric but a thicker fabric can be more enduring. We recommend our lighter feel linens on our feather-filled linen sofas including Nest as this allows more air to circulate in the cushions, giving a softer sink-in feel. Should I choose a feather-filled sofa?

For the ultimate sink-in experience, feather-filled cushions win hands down and are offered on our Nest sofa. An all-feather filled cushion will compress when you sit on it and will need fluffing and puffing to restore its lofty appearance in the same way as bed pillows. If you like a bit more support when you sit, a feather and fibre mix such as Peak, or our featherwrapped foam option on the Nest sofa offers the best of both worlds and are less maintenance as they hold their shape better.

What size linen sofa should I choose?

Our linen sofas are available in a range of sizes from 1-seater armchairs to 2-seater, 3-seater and 4-seater sofas together with a choice of corner and modular sofas.
